Lenka moved to the UK from Slovenia in 2001. She worked as a sales assistant in a high-street shop after leaving school to earn some money. But in 2003, she decided the time had come to pursue her ambition of going to university.

So she spent a year doing a Business English qualification in the evenings while holding down her day job, before enrolling as a full time BA student at London Metropolitan University. She studies Accounting and Finance and aspires to one day be a finance director at a FTSE-100 business.

To make sure she gets there, Lenka has given up her vacations to gain more experience of the business world. In her first summer at university, she did work experience at a London accountancy firm. Since then, she has gone back every year and last Christmas, she even volunteered in the finance department of children’s charity Barnado’s.
